Weekend Update:

Friday, June 27th:
Brandon had concert tickets for Lindsey Stirling so we braved Charlotte for the evening. We figured we would get something to eat before that so we went to Chubz, a first for both of us. Pretty good food we will be going back again sometime since he found a groupon for it. We headed to the Fillmore after that and the sky decided to open up and unleash hell. It poured rain for a good half hour before we were able to go inside. Luckily I did have an umbrella in the car, which lead us to meet these lovely people.
Everyone comes together when it rains. But after being soaking wet and in pain we didn't end up staying for the entire concert, plus I'm pretty sure she wasn't actually playing the violin.

Saturday, June 28th:
We spent the day out and about partly in Charlotte again. But before that we acted semi responsible and cleaned, he cleaned out his truck and I straightened up the room a bit. We decided to go to lunch at what has become one of our favorite restaurant, Bella Fresco. Amazing food, gelato and desserts. But as always it was a fantastic meal accompanied by holding hands and good company.
After lunch we headed to Adventure Landing for a little mini golf and arcade games. So far we are 1-1 on mini golf, we seem to like to keep things matched up. But aside from the heat it was a lot of fun. It's great to be able to enjoy those little things with the person I love.

Sunday, June 29th:
We usually try to reserve Sunday for pure laziness but that doesn't always work. This Sunday we went grocery shopping, amazing how even boring tasks can be better in good company. After that we made his lunches for the week so he didn't have to eat out ever day and rush. We did get some lazy time in after that and took a nap together. Sounds silly but I do love fall asleep with him.

All in all a pretty full weekend, which is going to be followed by another full weekend coming up, there is no one i would rather spend it with.

Multiple updates are needed:

Spring/Summer allergies have been kicking my butt so updating hasn't happened in a couple of week, so it is well past time to do that.

Saturday, June 14th:
After Boy was able to get off work and we cooked (cooking post will be separate) we spent a few hours at the local bowling alley. We managed to each win a game of bowling and not fight over the game. As normal some people don't know how to have manners but we still had a good time. After bowling we shot a few games of pool which was a bit more competitive than the bowling, but everyone still came out alive.

Sunday, June 15th:
Sunday was technically our 3 month anniversary but it was also Father's Day. My Dad and I have a tradition of shooting some of my Grandfather's old pistols on Father's day, well this year Brandon was able to shoot with us. We shot two guns that were almost 100 years old and then  new 1911's. There's a story there but frankly it won't matter to most people. This was a fairly important event to us so it was nice to be able to share that with him. After that we went out to dinner with Brandon's family. After a bit of driving around to find somewhere that wasn't insanely crowded on a Sunday afternoon and holiday we ended up at Ruby Tuesdays. Dinner was with his Dad, Brother, future Sister in Law and their son, so a pretty packed table. It seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves, which is the important part.

Tuesday, June 17th:
Since we spent our anniversary shuffling between two cities and two families we decided to go out to eat together. Just us to be able to talk and enjoy ourselves. We went to Cheddars, a restaurant that I absolutely love and didn't even know was in NC until recently. It was just what we needed.

Saturday, June 21st:
Probably the most exciting update we went to Zootastic. I have a passion for finding deals and saving money, which means searching sites like yipit, groupon and living social almost daily to find things for us to do. Well zootastic popped up and seemed interesting. They take you on a wagon ride around the park where you can pet and feed an assortment of animals. But they sweetened the deal by including being able to feed some of the parks tigers. Freaking awesome right? We were also able to pet some wolves and some wolf pups as well.I have pictures that will have to be posted later since my internet is not agreeing with blogger right now. But that whole day was pretty amazing and we can't wait to be able to do it again.

Sunday, June 22nd:
Brandon hasn't been to a gun show yet and one was in town so we spent a few hours looking at guns and other toys. As always all it did was build the wish list of things that we want to buy and play with.

Our Adventures In Cooking [Part 1]

Well I have been cooking since I was a little kid and have gotten to the point where I am a bit of a cooking Nazi in the kitchen. Generally I want everyone out and to be able to do my own thing without someone else poking around. But I am lucky enough to have a guy that actually wants to help cook, amazing right? So we embarked on a journey of us cooking new things together. Pretty much everything we are doing is coming from pinterest so it's relatively simple, which is probably a good option as I adjust to having someone else in there with me. I can say our first weekend of cooking together went pretty well, the food turned out nicely and no one ended up in the emergency room- from food poisoning or getting stabbed. Not a bad start at all.

Saturday morning we made breakfast toast bowls.

Sunday morning we made an easy cinnamon casserole

This was pure cinnamon joy by the way.

Later day day we made dinner, crispy cheesy baked chicken with mashed potatoes and greenbeans

The first undertaking went well so we are going to try to make this a normal thing, gives us a chance to cook together and we are getting to try new recipes so it is a win-win situation :)

Catawba Science Center (06/07/14)

While boy is still sleeping I figured it was a good time to update. We spend yesterday afternoon at the SALT block in Hickory, neither of us have been there before so it was a new experience. Although there were quite a few things geared toward kids we still found some things we were able to have fun with. Anyone in this area knows that there aren't a ton of things to do so you end up doing whatever is around. We messed with some of the exhibits about Mars, which was their largest display, but my favorite (and what appeared to be his favorite) was in their little animal exhibit. They have a little petting tank so we were able to play with some stingrays.

After the Science Center we looked through the art gallery that is connected to the science center. Not a very large place and their main gallery hall was being renovated for their new feature. Although the art wasn't overly impressive they did have some interesting photos.

Over all not a bad place to visit for $14 dollars although we don't really have plans to go back. He was also sweet enough to buy me a little plush hedgehog from the gift shop, anyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with hedgehogs.

Our Story

Well Boy doesn't know about this blog yet, I figure one day I will be able to show him as a surprise. And maybe if we are lucky enough one day it will turn into our wedding blog as well. The beginning seems as good a place to start as any, and a lot has happened since we met even though it hasn't been that long yet. We're going on 3 months here in a few days but it already feels like I know known him for a life-time.

We met on match, and I can honestly say sending him that wink was the best choice I have ever made. In him I have found all the qualities someone could hope for. He is honest, sincere, sweet, intelligent, funny, attractive, and so many other qualities. We had our first date a couple of weeks after we started talking. We met at Owl's Eye Vineyard in Shelby, we stayed for a wine tasting. He never really had wine like that before and I figured it was something low key, we could talk to the people doing the tasting or about the wine, it took the pressure off us a little bit. The lady's doing the wine tasting assumed we had been together for a while now and when we explained that it was a first date they just lit up. One of the women met her husband on match and they talked about how we just looked like we were meant to be together. I was freaking out in my mind going, "yeah thanks lady, no pressure!" But secretly I hoped she was right.

After the wine tasting we went into town and had lunch at a local restaurant called Newts, burgers sandwiches that kind of stuff. We stayed for a couple of hours talking and laughing, it was like being around someone I already knew, nothing was awkward or forced. Oh and he didn't even think I was nuts when I said I had concert tickets for us a couple of months away. Sometimes you have to take the risk to get the reward. After lunch we walked around the downtown area for a while and he held my hand. My god the sparks flew. I knew this was someone that I needed to keep around.

I was sick during this whole date, before he showed up I was popping pills and eating crackers in the car, so about this time I started feeling terrible and told him I was going to have to end the date. Believe me I didn't want to leave, I would have stayed in that moment for an eternity if time allowed.  But he understood and was very sweet about it. I don't think I ever wanted to kiss anyone more than I wanted to kiss him at the end of our date. But I didn't want to get him sick, he understood, we hugged and parted ways. I will never forget how good he smelled and how great it felt being wrapped in his arms.

We text that evening about everything and quickly made plans to meet again the following weekend for a hockey game. I'd never been and it was something he really enjoyed so it would be a fun experience for both of us. We kissed pretty much as soon as we met back up, sparks flew once more. At the game he asked if we were official, mind you at this point we basically had plans set with each other through August and plans for other things to do, we were locked in regardless. I really can't tell you much about what happened at the game because there was so much happening.

Since then we have shared so many great experiences that I wish I would have started this earlier to be able to share them all. But this post is already pretty long and it will be an epic work by the time we are done. In him I have met the one whom my soul loves, and this is our journey.
